Maruti Alto K10 recalled, owners advised not to drive the car till the part is replaced

Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall of the Alto K10 model in India due to a potential defect in the ‘Steering Gear Box Assembly’. The recall affects 2555 units of the popular hatchback. The company has advised owners not to drive their vehicles until the issue is resolved.

In a statement, Maruti Suzuki indicated that the defect could, in rare instances, impact the vehicle’s steerability. This precautionary measure aims to ensure customer safety and prevent any possible mishaps related to the defect.

Authorised dealer workshops will be contacting affected customers to arrange for their vehicles to be inspected. The inspection and replacement of the faulty part will be carried out free of charge.

Owners of the Alto K10 can verify if their vehicle is part of the recall by entering their chassis number on the Maruti Suzuki website. The company emphasises that customer safety is its top priority and that all necessary steps are being taken to address the issue promptly.

The company assures customers that it is working diligently to resolve the issue and minimise inconvenience. The carmaker has urged customers to cooperate with the inspection process to ensure their vehicles are safe to drive.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is powered by a 1.0-litre K-Series, dual jet, dual VVT naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 66.6 PS at 5500 RPM and 89 Nm torque at 3500 RPM. In CNG mode this engine produces 56.6 PS at 5300 RPM and 82.1 Nm torque at 3400 RPM.

Maruti Suzuki claims a fuel efficiency of 24.60 km/l with the petrol variant and 34.46 km/kg with the CNG variant. It has a fuel tank capacity of 27 litres for petrol and 55 litres (water equivalent) for CNG.
