Nissan X-Trail available in India in a single turbo petrol variant, directly imported CBU
Nissan X-Trail launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 49.92 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SUV, which is imported as a fully built unit, comes equipped with a comprehensive 3-year/1 lakh km warranty and includes three years of free roadside assistance.
The new Nissan X-Trail is available in a single variant, featuring a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This powertrain, coupled with a 12V mild-hybrid system, produces 163 HP and 300 Nm of torque. It is paired with a shift-by-wire CVT automatic gearbox, which minimises the traditional rubberband effect associated with CVTs. Notably, the X-Trail utilises Nissan’s variable compression technology, allowing the vehicle to adjust its compression ratio for optimised performance or fuel efficiency, as required.
Inside, the X-Trail offers features like dual-pane panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, etc. Additional conveniences include a wireless smartphone charger, keyless entry and go, multiple drive modes, an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function and cruise control.
The vehicle is configured as a 7-seater, with versatile seating arrangements. The second row offers a 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding and reclining setup, while the third row includes 50/50 split-folding and reclining capabilities, providing flexibility for both passengers and cargo.
Safety features in the X-Trail are comprehensive, with seven airbags, automatic wipers, ABS with EBD, traction control and a limited-slip differential. The X-Trail also gets hill-start assist and front parking sensors.
The Nissan X-Trail enters the Indian market as a competitor in the premium 7-seater SUV segment. It faces off against established rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster. The competition in this segment is expected to intensify, with the Meridian and Gloster slated for facelifts later this year and the Kodiaq due for a generational update in 2025.
