Skoda-Kushaq-Long-Term-37

From 1st April 2025, it will be mandatory for Indian cars to come with E20 compliant engines. The E20 fuel blend consists of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. Skoda’s 1.0 TSI engine has now been certified by the ARAI to be E20-compliant.

While the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, TSI engine has been given the certification of compliance, its bigger sibling, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, TSI is undergoing testing and should be made compliant by Q4 of this year. The 1.0 TSI engine makes 115 HP and 178 Nm while the 1.5 TSI makes 150 HP and 250 Nm.

The 1.0 TSI engine currently powers the Kushaq and Slavia along with cousins Taigun and Virtus. Skoda is currently developing a new compact SUV for 2025 launch and that one will also be powered by the same engine. The new compact SUV will be positioned below the Kushaq in the company’s portfolio.
