2024 MINI Countryman Electric

MINI Countryman looks sharper in its new generation avatar

MINI has commenced pre-bookings for the all-electric Countryman in India. The MINI Countryman Electric, which made its global debut in September last year, marks a significant addition to the electric SUV market. Sharing its platform with the BMW iX1, the Countryman Electric features distinctive design elements, including an octagonal grille, updated LED headlamps and redesigned tail lights.

The electric SUV is powered by a 64.7 kWh battery, providing a range of 433 to 461 km, depending on the variant. Two versions are available in the global market: the E and SE ALL4. Both variants utilise the same battery pack but differ in performance and range.

The base E variant is equipped with a single electric motor delivering 204 BHP and 250 Nm of torque, offering a range of 461 km. The SE ALL4 trim, featuring dual electric motors, produces 313 BHP and 493 Nm of torque and has a slightly lower range of 433 km, as per the WLTP cycle.

Inside, the Countryman Electric boasts a minimalistic design centred around a circular touchscreen infotainment system. The vehicle also comes equipped with an array of driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control and lane centering. Additionally, the optional Driver Assistance Professional Package offers the capability for hands-free driving at speeds up to 59.5 km/hr.

MINI Countryman electric India launch is expected in the next few weeks. It will compete with a range of EVs including Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6, BYD Seal, BMW iX1, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Mercedes EQB, etc.

MINI has also commenced the bookings for the new generation Cooper S that will be initially available in its 3-door avatar. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol producing 204 HP and 300 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The electric version of the MINI Cooper will be introduced in India later this year.
