Kia Carens facelift has been spotted testing for the first time, India bound
Kia Carens facelift spotted testing as the MPV is gearing up for a mid-cycle update. Spy shots recently emerged from South Korea hinting at what’s to come. Set for a 2025 debut, the facelifted Carens will also come with an electric powertrain alongside the traditional petrol and diesel options.
While the styling details are not too visible due to the camouflage, it’s clear that the Carens facelift will undergo significant exterior redesign. Notable updates include new C-shaped LED tail lights inspired by its siblings, the Seltos and Sonet facelifts. It is also expected to come with a Seltos inspired headlight having sharp LED DRLs design with main headlamp units integrated in the bumper. It will also get redesigned grille, new front and rear bumpers, updated alloy wheels and other aesthetic tweaks to make it look fresh.
Inside the cabin, it’s likely that the layout will remain the same, with 6- and 7-seater configurations expected to continue. Potential updates to the features list and materials used for dash and upholstery could further refine the interior experience.
Under the hood, the Carens facelift is likely to retain its current engine lineup, including the 115 HP 1.5-litre petrol, 160 HP 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 116 HP 1.5-litre diesel options. These engines will continue to be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options.
An all-electric iteration of the Carens is also on the horizon. Expected to debut in the second half of 2025, sporting design cues similar to its ICE counterparts, the electric Carens may feature a closed-off grille area, aerodynamically optimised wheels and unique badges.
While specifics on the EV’s powertrain are scarce, it’s speculated to inherit technology from models like the Creta EV, potentially featuring a 45kWh battery pack powering a front-mounted motor.
