Maruti Suzuki has recently announced a recall affecting certain units of Baleno and Wagon R models. The recall is prompted by a potential defect in a fuel pump motor component, which could impact the performance of the vehicles.
Specifically, Maruti Suzuki has identified 11,851 units of the Baleno and 4190 units of the Wagon R manufactured between 30th July, 2019 and 1st November, 2019 as being affected by this issue. While the Baleno affected in this recall are the previous generation units and Wagon R affected are pre-facelift units.
The company has emphasised that while the likelihood of encountering problems due to this defect is rare, they have opted to recall the vehicles as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and satisfaction of their customers.
The defective fuel pump motor component has the potential to cause engine stalling or starting issues, which could inconvenience owners and compromise driving experiences. To address this issue, authorised Maruti Suzuki dealer workshops will reach out to affected owners to arrange for the replacement of the faulty component, completely free of charge.
Owners of the affected Baleno and Wagon R models can easily check if their vehicles are included in the recall by entering the chassis number on Maruti Suzuki’s official website.
