Skoda compact SUV launch officially confirmed for early 2025
Skoda has revealed more details on their upcoming sub 4-metre compact SUV. It will be launched by early 2025 and positioned under the Skoda Kushaq, making it the entry-level SUV of the carmaker in India.
It will be based on same MQB-A0-IN as Skoda Kushaq but with shortened length. It will be powered by the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine producing 115 HP and 175 Nm of torque. This engine will be available with both 6-speed manual transmission and automatic transmission options.
There will be no 1.5-litre TSI on offer to save tax and offer it with an attractive price tag. To further make it more accessible, Skoda is aiming for high localisation. They want to double their market share by targeting tier 3 and tier 4 cities.
They have shortlisted 5 names for the new compact SUV. It will begin with K and end with Q. These names are inspired by iconic places related to India – Škoda Kylaq, Kariq, Kymaq, Kyroq and Kwiq. They will come up with a campaign called “Name your Skoda” from where they’ll finalise the name of this compact SUV. Winner gets this car for free and visit Škoda in Prague, Czech Republic. You can also suggest new names by using #NameYourSkoda or visiting this website.
The new compact SUV from Skoda will compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Kia Sonet.
