Tata Curvv patent looks production-ready
Tata Motors has been testing the Curvv rigorously of late as a lot of test mules have been spotted recently. Initially the camouflaged prototypes were seen with a weird looking box hiding the rear design. Now, the coupe inspired boot design has been visible in recent spy shots.
The Indian carmaker has filed the design patent which reveals the complete front profile of the Tata Curvv. It will be based on the Nexon and share a lot of elements with the same but it looks completely different thanks to the new design identity.
You can call it a crossover or a coupe SUV and even a jacked up sedan. This will be quite a unique body style in this segment, which is usually found on luxury cars like BMW X4, Mercedes GLC Coupe, Audi Q3 Sportback, etc.
The front profile gets a wide grille, DLRs on top and bumper integrated headlights. The side profile has huge wheel arches and black cladding running across the lower-half of the body. The ORVMs are mounted on the doors and not on the pillar. Another interesting detail is the new flush-type door handles that we will see for the first time in a Tata car.
The sloping roofline merges seamlessly with the boot of the car. While the rear profile isn’t visible hear, we can make out from the concept version and the test mules that it will get sleek LED tail lights.
The interior is expected to be borrowed from the Nexon. It will get the same two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, digital instrument cluster and infotainment system with the latest UI. Tata might offer different colour schemes for the upholstery to differentiate the two products. Equipment list is likely to be the same along with the engine options – 1.5-litre diesel and 1.2-litre turbo petrol.
We can expect Tata Motors to launch the Curvv by Diwali this year. We might see a pure electric version of the same soon after the ICE version’s debut. How do you like the styling? Let us know in the comments section below.
