Hyundai Creta electric spotted in heavy camouflage, alloy wheel design revealed
Hyundai India is set to broaden the Creta lineup with the upcoming Creta EV, recently captured in a series of spy images during testing on Indian roads. The discernible design cues under the camouflage suggest that the electric variant will share the facelifted model’s overall styling.
The spy shots reveal the Creta EV incorporating the headlights and tail lights from the Creta facelift, presenting a silhouette that closely resembles its internal combustion engine counterpart. However, the EV-specific design elements include a closed-off grille and a potentially off-centre, nose-mounted charging port, reminiscent of the Kona Electric.
Distinctive aerodynamically efficient alloy wheels, likely 17-inch units (with the possibility of 18-inch options), further set the Creta EV apart. Internally, similarities with the facelift are expected, with potential influences from the Ioniq 5 in certain interior aspects. We can expect more features in the Creta EV compared to the ICE counterpart.
Powering the Creta EV will be a 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem. While this capacity may appear slightly smaller compared to competitors like the MG ZS EV (50.3kWh) and the upcoming Maruti eVX (48-60kWh), it surpasses the Nexon EV long-range’s 40.5kWh unit. Projected real-world range for the Creta EV stands at approximately 250 km on a single charge.
The electric motor for the Creta EV will be shared with the latest-generation, entry-level Kona EV available internationally. A single front-axle-mounted motor is expected to generate around 138 HP and 255 Nm of torque, marking Hyundai’s third venture into the electric vehicle segment in India.
