2024 Maruti Wagon R Spied Rear

Maruti Wagon R facelift to get some exterior tweaks and new features

Maruti Wagon R facelift test mule spotted almost undisguised. The prototype looks familiar to the Wagon R EV prototype that has been spotted multiple times in the past. The Wagon R EV project didn’t get a green signal for production due to the cost factor that Maruti Suzuki couldn’t find feasible for the Indian market. The carmaker will directly launch the Maruti eVX as their first all-electric vehicle in 2024.

Now that the EV version is scrapped, Maruti might be looking to introduce the Wagon R facelift with the same styling. The prototype reveals new bumper design with repositioned reflectors and black cladding on the lower-half to make it look more rugged. There are two parking sensors on the bumper while the updated tail light design is hidden in camouflage.

We can expect the front profile to get a redesigned grille, new headlight elements and updated bumper, hopefully fog lamps stay intact. On the side profile we might see new alloy wheel design and updated wheel cover design.

The interior too should get some new changes like revised upholstery, updated infotainment system and a few more features to make the hatchback more desirable.

There won’t be any changes in the engine department. The Wagon R facelift will continue to get the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine options. It will be available with the same manual and AMT gearbox options. Maruti Suzuki will also continue with the CNG powertrain option.
