Ather Energy developing new affordable family scooter for 2024 launch
Ather Energy is set to launch a new family oriented electric scooter in 2024, according to CEO Tarun Mehta. The company aims to provide a comfortable and spacious ride that is also affordable for families.
Mehta shared the news on social media, stating, “So many folks love Ather Energy as a brand but want a bigger, family-oriented scooter from us.” He emphasised that the upcoming model is designed with the entire family in mind, promising comfort, ample size and more, all in one package.
The family electric scooter from Ather has already been spotted during testing. It features a more conventional design with a wide and flat seat along with a flat footboard. Expected features include LED lights, a touchscreen instrument console, alloy wheels, etc.
While technical details are still under wraps, there is speculation that the new model might utilise the same belt drive as the 450X, one of Ather’s previous electric scooters known for its performance oriented nature.
Ather Energy’s commitment to affordability and a family-friendly design signals a shift in focus, catering to those who seek a larger and more comfortable electric scooter. The move aligns with the increasing demand for sustainable and cheap to run electric scooters. It will increase their customer base since many buyers prefer comfort over performance.
