Mahindra pickup concept to be revealed in South Africa
Mahindra is planning to showcase their future products at an event in South Africa on 15th August, one of them will be a new pickup truck concept.
The Indian UV maker is developing a new Mahindra Scorpio N platform based pickup truck and the concept version is called Global Pik Up Vision. It will showcase the design philosophy of the new generation pickup truck and the potential features and specs that could be offered in the production version.
Mahindra is targeting global markets with this product as South Africa is one of their biggest markets for their Scorpio Getaway pickup trucks. They sell their pickups in big numbers in the Australian market as well.
We can expect the new pickup to be a step up compared to the Getaway, having a modern design, more practical and premium interiors and a more capable powertrain.
You can expect it to come with the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options borrowed from the Scorpio N. It should be available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options and the option of 2WD and 4WD setup.
The production version of the concept is likely to hit the showrooms by 2025. Currently in India there are two desirable lifestyle pickup trucks on offer – Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux. If the new Mahindra pickup truck hits the right price point with an attractive design and modern features, it might become a popular body style in the country.
