Maruti S Presso and Eeco recalled for faulty steering tie rod part
Maruti Suzuki S Presso and Eeco recalled, 87,599 units are affected. The recall comes as the company has identified a potential defect in a critical part of the steering tie rod, which could impact the car’s steerability and handling. This is the fourth recall by Maruti Suzuki this year.
The affected units of the S Presso and Eeco were manufactured between July 2021 and February 2023. Maruti Suzuki stated that a part of the steering tie rod may be prone to breakage, although the likelihood of this happening is rare. However, in the event of such a failure, it could severely impact the vehicle’s ability to steer and handle safely.
Maruti Suzuki has taken action to address the potential safety concern. The company has instructed its dealer workshops to contact owners of the affected vehicles and conduct an inspection. If the faulty part is found, the necessary replacement will be carried out free of charge to the customers.
The latest recall is the fourth one issued by Maruti Suzuki in 2023. Earlier in the year, the company recalled 17,362 units of various models to inspect the airbag controller for potential defects. Additionally, 11,177 Grand Vitaras were recalled to examine rear seatbelt mounting brackets that could loosen over time. Another recall was announced for 7213 units of the Baleno RS hatchback due to a possible defect in the vacuum pump assisting the brake function.
Since the introduction of SIAM’s voluntary vehicle recall policy in 2012, the company has issued 29 recalls, affecting a total of 8,63,901 vehicles. Notably, the current recall for the S Presso and Eeco is the third largest one in the company’s recall history.
