Honda discontinues majority of the cars in their portfolio
Honda discontinues the Jazz, WR-V and 4th generation City as these cars were not updated to meet the BS6 Phase 2 norms. The Japanese carmaker is left with the Honda City and the Amaze in their current product portfolio for India.
While there are only two cars left on sale, the company is currently working on their upcoming midsize SUV which will make its debut by mid-2023. The new SUV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the likes.
They are betting big on their new project since it has the potential to churn out big volumes for the company. It is expected to be loaded with features. Will be based on the tweaked Amaze platform.
Honda will be offering the same engine options like the City – a 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre strong hybrid engine option. The new SUV is expected to go on sale before the festive season this year.
Honda has now completely discontinued diesel engine options in their portfolio and we don’t even expect them to offer diesels henceforth.
