2023 will witness a new Honda SUV for India, spotted testing
Honda Car India is betting big on their new SUV which is expected to make its global debut by mid 2023 and has been spotted testing. The Japanese carmaker is expecting their new product to be a big volume spinner for the company.
The new compact SUV will be based on the Honda Amaze platform but it will be tweaked. It will compete with the sea of SUVs in the segment including Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and the likes.
Honda shared the teaser of the new SUV a couple of months back. We expect the styling to be inspired by the new Honda HR-V that was launched in the international market.
The interior will share a lot of elements with the existing lineup of Honda cars to keep the costs in check. You can expect it to borrow some features like 360 degree camera, wireless charger, ADAS, etc. from the City facelift that was launched recently.
It will share its powertrain options with the new City as well. To come with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine with 5-speed manual and CVT automatic. There will be a strong hybrid engine as well, a 1.5-litre petrol mated to an electric powertrain. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer.
While the car is expected to be revealed by mid-2023, deliveries are likely to commence from the festive season this year.
