Maruti Jimny 5-Door finally spotted undisguised in India
Maruti Jimny 5-Door has been spotted for the first time undisguised. It seems like the carmaker is shooting the TVC of the upcoming SUV.
One of the pictures shows another car covered while this one in the signature colour grabs attention completely. The Jimny badging on the tailgate confirms the final production name of the car. It won’t be called the Gypsy as rumoured recently.
Up to the B-pillar, the car looks exactly the same as the current 3-door Jimny from this angle. There is an additional door and a slim quarter glass panel. The rear door proportion looks a bit awkward though in these pictures.
The rear profile looks exactly the same and gets a spare wheel mounted on the tailgate with a black cover on it. The black hinges of the tailgate look a bit ugly. The rear windscreen looks small too.
Another disappointment is the size of the tyres, look at the width! It looks quite thin in pictures. This test mule gets Bridgestone tyres that are likely to make it to production.
The 5-door Jimny will make its global debut at the upcoming 2023 Auto Expo in January. It will come with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine with mild hybrid tech. Maruti will offer 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto with the Jimny. It will also come with Suzuki AllGrip 4×4 tech with low ratio gearbox.
