Toyota Innova HyCross electric in the works
Toyota Innova HyCross has made its India debut with petrol and strong hybrid engine options, the carmaker is now developing electric version of the MPV.
Recently we saw an undisguised prototype of the Innova Crysta electric doing the rounds in the international market. We expect the same tech to be offered in production form with the Innova HyCross since it is the latest generation MPV from the carmaker.
In this rendering, the electric HyCross looks sharp and has a futuristic touch to it. Just like the Crysta EV, the HyCross electric will get a covered grille panel, aerodynamic bumper design and aerodynamic alloy wheels design.
There is no word on the technical specifications of the electric MPV but we believe it should have a battery big enough to offer a driving range of around 500 km on single charge.
Toyota India is currently betting big on the hybrid technology which delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.1 km/l. Deliveries of the HyCross will begin in India by mid-January 2023. Pricing will be announced in January itself.
Toyota will only offer a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine option along with the hybrid engine. There will be no diesel engine on offer. The Innova Crysta will be sold alongside the HyCross.
