LML to make a comeback with electric scooters in India
LML is all set to make its comeback with electric scooters. LML (Lohia Machines Ltd) was a Kanpur based two-wheeler maker that was known for bringing Vespa to India in the 90s. They had a big competition with Bajaj scooters with their 100cc range. The company had to close in 2018 as they couldn’t keep up with the competition.
Now under the SG Corporate Mobility ownership, LML will start its new innings with electric two-wheelers. They will be revealing three electric two-wheeler concepts on 29th September. This will include both motorcycles and e scooters.
The electric bikes are confirmed for launch in the first quarter of 2023. These products will not only be launched for the domestic market but also be exported to other countries. We can expect some modern designs and also retro electric scooters in this range.
The company is planning to invest a total of Rs. 1000 crores over the next 3-5 years. They will be producing these bikes in the erstwhile manufacturing unit of Harley-Davidson in Manesar, Haryana.
The bike maker plans to have around 1000 LML dealerships across the country.
