BMW has launched the 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition for a price tag of Rs. 67,50,000/- (ex-showroom). It’s cheaper than the M340i xDrive 50 Jahre M Edition By Rs. 1.4 Lakhs and 6 Series 50 Jahre M Edition by Rs. 5.4 lakhs.
BMW is commemorating the 50th anniversary of its performance division ‘M’ this year and to celebrate it, the brand is in the process of launching as many as 10 special editions of its M and M sport cars in India.
Locally produced at BMW Group plant in Chennai, the 5 Series 50 Jahre M Edition comes in a petrol variant – BMW 530i M Sport. Available only in limited numbers, the bespoke model can be booked online from today onwards.
The new edition sports large, clean, and tautly drawn surfaces. Above the signature kidney grille is the M emblem along with ‘50 Years of M’ door projector inspired by the classic ‘BMW Motorsport’ logo.
Further, BMW Laserlight, unique in this segment, distributes light perfectly up to 650 meters and is accentuated by the M Lights Shadowline which offers a dark tint around the headlamps.
The sporty sedan gets aerodynamically optimised bodywork elements of the M sport package. Distinct wheel arches give a dynamic appearance to the car’s side profile. At the rear, the new L-shaped light graphic emerges from the taillight in a 3-dimensional form.
The special edition sports 18-inch 662M Jet Black alloy wheels with Red M sport brake calipers. The car is available in M Carbon Black, Bernina Grey Amber Effect, Phytonic Blue, and Alpine White paint shades paired with Sensatec Perforated upholstery in Cognac finish with contrast stitching.
Customers can further add to the details of the car with the optional M accessories packages. Racer’s package offers an exterior upgrade that includes side skirt transfers in Black, rear spoiler in Matte Black, and a key fob.
Motorsport package offers exterior mirror caps in Carbon Fibre and Carbon Package provides Carbon Fibre finish to the kidney grille, rear spoiler, mirror caps, etc.
On the inside, the special edition gets sports seats with leather covers, seat belts with stitching in M colours, sport leather steering wheel, specific trim strips, and ergonomically optimised lumbar support.
The centre console features new interior trim finishers in Piano Black and Black ceramic surround for controls. There’s an ambient lighting system with 6 dimmable designs. The luggage compartment has a capacity of up to 600 litres extending to 1,800 litres.
Power comes from a 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that exerts 252 HP and 350 Nm with a 0-100 km/hr time of 6.1 seconds. The engine is mated to an 8-speed steptronic sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters and cruise control.
The features on offer include BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW operating system on a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument display behind the steering wheel and a 12.3-inch control display.
The passengers can operate several functions simply by speaking to the BMW virtual assistant. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensures seamless smartphone connection while Harman Kardon surround sound system offers an immersive experience.
The driver assist systems include parking assistant, reversing assistant, attentiveness assistance, and comfort access system. Further, there are features such as auto start-stop, and brake energy regeneration.
Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, Dynamic Stability Control with Dynamic Traction Control and Electronic Differential Lock Control, Cornering Brake Control, electric parking brake with auto hold, crash sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounting.
