Lexus LX 600 bookings commence in India, deliveries might start from January, next year
Bookings for the humongous Lexus LX 600 luxury SUV, which made its global debut last year, have commenced in India for a token amount of Rs. 10 lakhs. Deliveries are expected to start from from January, next year.
The model which got unveiled last year is the fourth generation of the SUV. The LX series went on sale first in 1995.
It’s powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that exerts 409 HP and 650 Nm. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox. There is also a 2-speed transfer case for the 4-wheel drive system the SUV sports. It’s built on Lexus’ traditional ladder frame, GA-F chassis.
When it comes to the exteriors, the Lexus’ flagship has been completely redesigned but the wheelbase remains the same though at 285 cm. The butch looks are carried forward from the previous generations for an amazing road presence the SUV is known for.
The huge 7-slat horizonal grille dominates the front. Other than this, the SUV almost looks like the previous iteration. The side has some minor updates including new muscular lines, creases, and bulges throughout.
On the inside, the luxury car gets a 12.3-inch upper and 7-inch lower display infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster. The interior gets a tan leather finish for an upmarket feel inside. The center part gets a quilted pattern.
The cabin is, indeed, a huge step up from the previous LX 570. There’s also an ultra luxury variant for the car that has more spacious rear seat with a host of luxury features for the passengers.
As far as safety is concerned, the 600 gets the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 that includes a plethora of driver aids like autonomous emergency braking, intelligent high lights, radar cruise control, lane departure warning, and roadside assistance.
While the existing LX 570 costs Rs. 2.32 crores (ex-showroom), the upcoming LX 600 would command a premium over it. It may go on a sale for an ex-showroom price of about Rs. 3 crores.
