Hyundai is likely to launch the 6th gen Verna later this year as a 2023 model, spied car reveals little clues
For the first time, the upcoming 2023 Hyundai Verna has been spied testing in India. Codenamed BN7, it’s reportedly the sixth generation model of the sedan that’s quite popular the world over. With tests ongoing, global debut is expected to happen soon.
First spotted in South Korea last year, Hyundai will most likely launch the car later this year in global markets as the 2023 iteration while Indian launch will happen by early next year.
Going by the looks of the test mule, it bears no resemblance to the existing fifth generation facelifted Verna sold currently in India. It looks wide and full of muscle somewhat like the Renault Fluence. The rear features large tail lamps housed in separate compartments for a meaner look.
The car will get Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design that right now adorns the brand’s new Elantra and Sonata sold overseas and also the latest i20 hatchback on sale in India.
Unlike the present car, the new Verna will sport much larger and wider grille to complement the bigger dimensions. Split headlamps could make their way merging with the grille like the present-day i20.
When it comes to interiors, the new Verna will get loaded to the brim as per the trend as Hyundai is known for offering a ton of features. Some of them might be sunroof, ventilated seats, large-display infotainment system, and connected tech.
The new model is expected to feature the same 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engines but with mild-hybrid technology and CNG. At least for now, there’s no information about a hybrid model in the works.
Gearbox options are also expected to be the same with both engines getting the option of a manual and an automatic.
When launched in India, the new Verna will rival the current sales leader Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus.
