Suzuki Swift Sport is under extensive testing by ARAI at varied conditions for homologation
A lone Suzuki Swift Sport that was, reportedly, imported into the country 10 days back is making headlines again and again thanks to ARAI testing it vigorously at varied conditions. The interesting part is that the car sports no camouflages revealing all the bits and pieces.
The hot hatch wears unique red number plates and a ‘On Test By ARAI’ sticker which might mean it’s currently under homologation process for a potential launch soon.
Also, on the test car, the brand logo is missing at the front. In its place lies what looks like ring hole. It might sport ARAI’s test equipment.
Recently, the car also seen testing was on a hill road on the outskirts of Mumbai, most probably, to check the its tire and suspension performance up the mountains.
Also, the Swift Sport on test is the reportedly the European-spec 2022 model that has undergone styling revisions and tweaks when compared to the standard global model.
It’s powered by the updated inline 4-cylinder 1.4-litre Booster Jet turbo-VVT petrol engine that puts out 138 HP at 5500 RPM and 230 Nm between 2500 and 3500 RPM. The car can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 8 seconds and its claimed fuel efficiency abroad is 18.7 km/l.
The Swift Sport is one of the very few hot hatches in the world with a proper manual transmission offering maximum fun behind the wheels. It can hit a stop speed of 210 km/hr.
The updated model also gets a stiffened up chassis and suspension abroad to offer good handling characteristics.
On the outside, the Swift Sport gets a larger grille with scooped out panels for a meaner look. The creases are also more pronounced than the regular Swift. The hot hatch drives on large 17-inch alloys wheels. At the rear the prominent dual exhausts carry forward the design.
