Honda City eHEV comes in only 1 variant, ZX, for a price tag of Rs. 19,49,900 (ex-showroom, New Delhi)
Honda India has launched its much-awaited City eHEV hybrid C-segment sedan for a price tag of Rs. 19,49,900 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The hybrid car comes only in 1 fully loaded variant, ZX, that offers 6 airbags as standard.
With production already in full swing at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, buyers can expect deliveries immediately.
As far as design goes, there are no significant changes when compared to the regular City with 5 colors on offer – Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic.
The Honda logos now get blue inserts. A new claw-type fog light garnish, e:HEV emblem at the rear, black diamond-cut alloy wheels, trunk lip spoiler, and rear bumper diffuser with carbon finish are part of the package.
The full LED headlamps with 9 array inline shell, integrated LED drl, L-shaped LED turn indicators, and Z-shaped 3D wrap around LED tail lamps accentuate the design further.
Honda City eHEV is the country’s first mass market pure hybrid sedan. It gets a new 1.5-litre, DOHC, iVTEC engine that runs on Atkinson cycle mated to a power generator which charges the Lithium-ion battery pack located at the back.
Power comes from a 109 PS electric motor that also gets assisted by the engine at higher speeds via a clutch. It puts out an instant peak torque of 253 Nm. There are 4 auto-select modes that ensure maximum efficiency without compromising on performance.
A new electric servo brake system with disk brakes on all 4 wheels enables brake energy regeneration for charging the batteries.
When the motor and engine power the wheels together, the peak output increases up to 126 PS. The hybrid car can crack a top speed of 176 km/hr while the claimed fuel efficiency is 26.5 km/l with CO2 emissions limited to just 89.5 gm/km.
The interior gets dual-tone Ivory and Black coloured theme. For engaging the parking brake, drivers need not fiddle with a big stalk as the new City’s electric parking brake can be activated by the click of a button.
It lets the center console to be utilised more effectively for placing small items. The interior also boasts of premium leather upholstery, 1-touch electric sunroof, LED interior room lamps, and ambient lighting.
The City eHEV comes with Honda Sensing and Honda Connect technologies. The Honda Sensing system makes use of multiple cameras to perform functions namely Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High Beam.
Additionally, it also offers features like Vehicle Stability Assist, Agile Handling Assist, Emergency Stop at Signals, Hill Start Assist, and Tyre Deflation Warning.
All these systems are not just mere dashboard warnings but also take up the job from the driver when the need arises, Honda claims.
Coming to Honda Connect, the City eHEV has a 7-inch full HD TFT display for the driver and an 8-inch touchscreen display at the center offering Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Auto Weblink options.
There are a total 37 Honda Connect features with smart watch compatibility, Alexa, and Ok Google integration. For example, customers can now start the car and power on the AC from outside.
The City e:HEV comes with a 3-year unlimited km warranty as a standard benefit. Customers can also opt for extended warranty up to 5 years and anytime warranty up to 10 years from the date of car purchase.
The warranty available on lithium-ion battery will be 8-year or 1,60,000 km (whichever comes first) from the date of car purchase.
