2022 Maruti Wagon R gets updated with minor changes

2022 Maruti Wagon R launched with a starting price of Rs. 5.39 lakhs (ex-showroom). The tallboy gets a mild update that comes with new engine options, revised variant lineup and a few more features.

Visually, the new model looks identical to the outgoing version, even the front grille is exactly the same! However, there is an option to get dual tone colour exterior now which is available in Gallant Red with Black Roof and Magma Grey with Black Roof. For these colours you’ll have to shell out Rs. 12,000/- extra over the ZXI+ trims. Apart from this, you get dark 14-inch alloy wheels on the range topping models.

The interior has been updated with dual-tone beige and dark grey colour theme. The 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Studio infotainment remains unchanged but now it comes with 4 speakers instead of 2.

The biggest update is under the hood. The 1.0-litre K10B and 1.2-litre K12M engines have been replaced by K10C and K12N powertrains. Both of them have Dual Jet and Dual VVT technology with Idle Start Stop tech.

The 1.0-litre K10C engine produces 67 HP and 89 Nm and is more efficient at 25.19 km/l. Meanwhile the 1.2-litre K12N is good for 88.5 BHP and 113 Nm, returns better fuel efficiency at 24.43 km/l.

Both the engines are available with MT and AGS transmission options. Maruti has now introduced Hill Hold Assist as standard for all the AGS variants. Other safety features include dual airbags, Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), front seat belts reminder, high-speed alert system and rear parking sensors.

The S-CNG option is now available with both LXI and VXI variants and it is now more fuel efficient at 34.05 km/kg.
