The KTM 890 Duke GP will be among those 2 middleweight machines
KTM is gearing up to globally unveil the 890 Duke GP later this month even as development of the new 990 range of bikes continue.
The Mattighofen firm has teased the grand prix-inspired Duke 890 recently on social media, while a revised 890 Duke R will also be unveiled this month.
The 2022 890 Duke GP, expected to make its debut on 22nd February, could be developed by the Team Orange boffins based on the lessons learnt from the RC 8C project.
It is quite possible that the ‘GP’ will have some of the sportbike infused into it. For example, any of the track bike’s chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame, ultra-light wheels, airbox, among other parts could be used.
Similarly, the 126 BHP, 889cc parallel twin motor, 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch and quickshifter of the RC 8C could also be adopted for use in the latest 890 model.
Expected to feature race-inspired livery, the GP will likely be the flagship of the Duke 890 range until the 990 model range arrives in spring 2023.
