The MG ZS EV facelift is set to come with a larger 51 kWh battery pack
MG Motor India is expected to launch the ZS EV facelift in the market by February and the refreshed electric car will come with a comparatively bigger battery this time around.
Visually, the 2022 ZS EV will look very much like the Astor. It will get the same headlights, tail lamps and rear bumper as the compact SUV with the internal combustion engine (ICE).
However, being an electric car, the refreshed ZS EV will come with a different grille up front, new wheels and the front bumper will also be a revised unit.
As with any facelifted model, the 2022 ZS EV will come with more equipment than the 2021 model. Expect to see a digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, among others on the inside.
But what matters the most when it comes to an EV is the range and the Chinese-owned carmaker is set to ensure that the compact SUV has more of it.
Unlike the 2021 ZS EV which has a 44.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery offering 419 km range, the 2022 model will come with a 51 kWh pack and one can expect the official range to be over 450 km.
It is not known if the upgraded car will come with the same 143 PS peak power and 353 Nm maximum torque rating as the 2021 model.
At present the EV costs between Rs. 21.50 lakhs and Rs. 25.18 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the MG ZS EV facelift should be priced a bit higher.
