The 2022 Honda Civic Si for the USA will be produced at Ontario in Canada
Honda has taken the wraps off the new for 2022 Civic Si which it boldly claims is the most fun-to-drive model bearing the name, ever.
To arrive at dealerships in the USA later this year, the 2022 Honda Civic Si is based on the eleventh-generation Civic sedan.
Externally, the new Civic Si looks sporty to say the least. It has sleek LED lights, gloss black exterior trim, oval exhaust tips, restyled bumpers, splitter up front and a spoiler at the back. The vibrant Blazing Orange Pearl exterior colour also helps matters.
Stepping inside, there are new Si-specific sport seats with embroidered ‘Si’ logos, sport pedals, a leather-wrapped aluminum gear lever and red contrast stitching on the seats, doors, steering wheel, armrest and gear knob.
Features such as a 7-inch instrument display, 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Bose Centerpoint 2 premium sound system, accent lighting, idle stop system, are all on offer as well.
A 1498cc, turbocharged 4-cylinder VTEC motor pushing out 200 HP at 6000 RPM and 260 Nm of torque between 1800 and 5000 RPM powers the car. The motor has a single-mass flywheel now.
Teamed to a 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching that is connected to a helical limited-slip differential, the engine has been fitted with a new dual-coil silencer exhaust system for increased flow of gases.
The car also has 3 drive modes – Normal, Sport, Individual -, a stiffer steering system and retuned MacPherson Strut front and multi-link rear suspension for sporty handling along with thicker stabiliser bars.
Riding on 18-inch Matte Black alloy wheels wrapped with 235/40-section rubber, the 2022 Honda Civic Si also has sport-tuned brakes (312 mm front discs, 282 mm rear discs which are larger than the Civic sedan) and weighs 1339 kg.
For safety, the 2022 Honda Civic Si comes equipped with a whole host of active and passive systems including 10 airbags and Honda Sensing driver-assistive technologies.
