The asking price of the Tata Punch rises till Rs. 9.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec AMT model
Tata has launched the Punch with a starting price of Rs. 5.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi and introductory), today in India.
Unveiled earlier this month, the small crossover is based on Tata’s Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) Architecture which underpins the Altroz too.
It is a compact model which measures 3827 mm long, 1945 mm wide (with mirrors), 1615 mm tall, while having a wheelbase of 2445 mm.
With a youthful exterior design and a contemporary interior, the Punch comes with plentiful features current buyers look for in a car from the affordable segment.
Although the base variant of the car, named Pure, is a bit spartan, it still comes with LED indicators, central locking and safety features like 2 airbags, ABS, EBD, CSC, Brake Sway Control (BSC), seat belt reminders for front occupants and ISOFIX points with top tether.
One can add features such as a 4-inch touchscreen, 4 speakers and steering-mounted audio controls by purchasing the custom ‘Rhythm’ pack.
However, higher variants of the car have features like a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, semi-digital instrument cluster, auto projector headlamps, auto-folding ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, LED tail lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, among others.
The crossover can be had in colours such as Atomic Orange, Calypso Red, Daytona Grey, Meteor Bronze, Orcus White, Tornado Blue and Tropical Mist. Dual tone paint options (with Black and White roof colours) can only be had with the top Creative grade.
A 1199cc, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine good for 86 PS and 113 Nm of torque powers the car. The engine is teamed to a 5-speed manual, while there is also the option of a 5-speed AMT for all but the base variant.
Tata says the Punch does 18.97 km/l when equipped with the manual gearbox and 18.82 km/l when fitted with the AMT. Models equipped with the AMT also come with TractionPro mode. In addition, the Punch also has 2 drive modes – ‘Eco’ and ‘City’.
Apart from the above-mentioned safety kit, the Punch comes with a parametric alarm system and a tyre puncture repair kit, while Global NCAP has given it a 5-star safety rating (adult occupant) as well.
