Yamaha plans to launch the Aerox 155 alongside the R15M
India Yamaha Motor is set to launch the Aerox 155 maxi scooter in India tomorrow (21st September 2021), through a virtual event.
The Japanese manufacturer has teased the same on social media recently, although it only states that the new 2-wheeler will be a ‘maxi sports’ vehicle.
However, the teaser image hints that it is the Aerox 155 which will be launched in India tomorrow. What’s more, Yamaha has already received type approval certification for the scooter as well.
This maxi-scooter is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled motor that will make a maximum of 14.75 BHP at 8000 RPM in India. The type approval document does not state the torque figure, but, expect it to be around 14 Nm.
The motor, which is a detuned variant of the unit powering the R15 V3, comes with variable valve actuation (VVA) and is assisted by a smart motor generator (SMG) system.
Visually, the Aerox 155 looks like a proper maxi-scooter with a butch front end, footboards, wide seat, and 14-inch alloy wheels with fatter (for a scooter) rubber (110/80-section at the front and 140/70-section at the back).
In terms of features, the max-scooter comes with twin LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lamp, a digital instrument display, Bluetooth connectivity, stop-start, keyless ignition, single channel ABS (230 mm front disc, drum rear) and more.
The Yamaha Aerox 155’s price tag could be around Rs. 1.35-1.40 lakh (ex-showroom), which will make it a very expensive proposition, indeed.
