The first ever Formula One race has drawn so much attention to India, that Moto GP is also considering our country as a venue for their races next year. The organizers of the motorcycle championship are very keen to have the Buddh International Circuit for their races. Although Moto GP does not have a high fan following in India, the organisers believe that number of bikers and the entry of Mahindra Racing could make Moto GP a success. Every Moto GP race uses 117 cameras to track each and every move of the riders. With 18 races every year in 13 countries, a race in India would go a long way in developing motorsport craze amongst Indians.
“We definitely want to come to India. We are in the first stage of talks and if India, which is hosting the F1 race in October, manages to fulfill the conditions (for staging a Moto GP), then a Moto GP in Delhi is not far off,” Manuel Arroyo, MD, Dorna Sports (event mangers of Moto GP), said. “The Indian team’s presence will go a big way in getting the knowledge of the sport to India. The objective is to make it a worldwide event,” he added.
