The Dacia Jogger will be available in 5- and 7-seat configurations
Dacia has revealed the Jogger, a family car that looks like a crossover and has the interior space of an MPV.
Although it is named after loose trousers, the vehicle, which will come in 5- and 7-seater configurations, is a rather smart-looking machine.
Up front, it has a wide grille, a pair of sleek LED headlights, nicely shaped bumper with fog lights, an air dam and, yep, a skid plate. The bonnet has a pair of bulges on it too.
Along the sides, the Dacia Jogger sports roof rails, a large window area, door cladding (it has complete body cladding in the lower portion too), and a nice set of wheels.
At the back, the tail lamp design has been poached from Volvo and the car also has a large powered tail gate and a simple bumper with a skid plate.
Measuring 4547 mm long, 1784 mm wide (without ORVMs), 1632 mm tall (with roof rails), the Jogger has a wheelbase of 2897 mm and it also clears the ground by 200 mm.
In the interior, the Dacia Jogger has up to 7 seats, a 2-tier, dual tone dashboard (the coloured strip is textile which is also found on the door cards), slim air vents, an old-fashioned steering wheel, and plentiful features.
For example, there are 3 multimedia options – Media Control (that can be run with or without a smartphone), Media Display (with 8-inch touchscreen) and Media Nav – along with USB ports, voice activated assistance, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, up to 6 speakers, automatic lamps, cruise control, start-stop and more.
An array of optional extras are also available depending upon the market – the Dacia Jogger will be available from February 2022 in some 30 countries (Europe, Israel and Turkey, included).
Boot space of the 5-seat variant is 708 litres and 160 litres in the 7-seat model (565 litres with last row folded flat).
In addition, there will also be an ‘Extreme’ version of the Dacia Jogger with an even more pronounced off-road look and a cabin with red stitching on the seats, chrome trim on the front door panels, and features such as a reversing camera, climate control, and hands-free key card.
Built on Dacia’s CMF-B platform, the Jogger will come with a new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine (110 HP and up to 200 Nm) that can be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and an ECO-G 100 petrol/LPG bi-fuel engine (the 40-litre LPG tank is located where the spare wheel is usually housed).
There will also be a hybrid model (Dacia’s first) that is scheduled for launch in 2023. It will be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine assisted by an electric motor and a high-voltage starter motor. The transmission will be an automatic unit and the car will come with full electric start and driving modes too.
Safety-wise, the Jogger will feature 6 airbags, pressure sensors on doors, speed limiter, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, Emergency Brake Assist, Blind Spot Warning, Hill Start Assist and Park Assist.
