The Honda Jazz was first launched in India in June 2009 which was the second generation of the Jazz globally. The second-generation couldn’t do wonders for the Japanese carmaker as a result of which Honda pulled it out in February 2013. Honda launched the third generation of the Jazz in July 2015 to compete with the likes of Maruti Swift and Hyundai Elite i20 which were doing well at that time in the market.

The Honda Jazz is 3989 mm in length, 1694 mm in width and 1544 mm in height. With a small and upright bonnet, the Jazz is not one of those cars which looks like stamping its authority on the road.
The facelift model of the Honda Jazz has been updated with some chrome detailing around the glass black and front grill. It also gets the usual chrome bar with a Honda logo along with a revised bumper. It now gets LED headlights and LED fog lights however the indicators are still not LEDs. From the side, one will find that the Jazz is one of those cars which doesn’t look boxy despite its tall dimensions. Cuts and creases can be seen running throughout the door handles. The door handles get a chrome treatment with the request sensors on the driver and the co-driver’s side.

The unique selling point of the Jazz is the fact that it is the only hatchback in its segment to get a sunroof. However, it does miss out on some features which its competitors offer. It gets non-adjustable headrests and misses out on a rear armrest. It gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets cruise control, push-button start, keyless entry etc. Piano black finish can be found around the gearbox with two cup holders below the air condition controls. It also gets a three-spoke steering wheel and an analogue-digital instrument cluster which might feel outdated in today’s time. At the rear, the first thing one will notice is the two-part tail lamp assembly. The boot lit of the Jazz has a white chrome strip and the rear bumper gets a glossy black finish.

The Jazz is one of those hatchbacks which can comfortably accommodate 3 passengers at the back. There is no rear armrest or a rear vent present which creates a lot of legroom for the middle passenger at the rear. The door pockets can accommodate 1-litre water bottles which showcase its practicality. The under-thigh support is decent and the headroom is satisfactory unless you’re over 6 feet. It gets a boot space of 354-litres which is by far one of the best in the segment. With a low loading lip, it’s easy to fit in a lot of luggage inside the boot.
Honda Jazz Engine Performance
The petrol engine offered on the Jazz is a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, i-VTEC unit producing 90 PS at 6000 RPM and 110 Nm of torque output at 4800 RPM. This engine feels a bit underpowered with below-average performance on the lower end compared to the diesel engine that was offered in the previous generation. In the mid-range, the performance is average but it’s near the redline that the VTEC kicks in and you get to see the full power of the motor.
Honda Jazz Mileage
The Jazz petrol isn’t exactly fuel-efficient and you can expect 9-12 km/l from the petrol variants in the city. Needless to say that the mileage would increase on the highway.

The Jazz’s ride quality is on the stiffer side but on the other hand, the handling is superb. Body roll is extremely well contained. The steering is light enough for city driving and out on the highways it weighs up decently offering good feel and feedback.
