As the Volkswagen Taigun bookings have commenced, the compact SUV will be launched pretty soon
Volkswagen India has started accepting bookings for the Taigun which is set to be launched soon. The token amount has been set at Rs. 25,000/-
Production of the compact SUV has commenced at the German automaker’s Chakan plant in Pune and the first Taigun was rolled out today.
Early customers who book the compact SUV either online or at Volkswagen’s authorised dealerships will be able to take delivery in September.
Underpinned by the MQB-A0-IN platform, the Taigun, says Volkswagen, will have up to 95 percent localisation.
Unveiled earlier this year, the compact SUV will come with LED headlights, LED tail lamps, electric sunroof, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless mobile charger, ambient lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated seats and dual tone interior.
Volkswagen will offer 2 turbo petrol engine choices to customers – a 1.0-litre TSI (115 PS and 178 Nm) and a 1.5-litre TSI (150 PS and 250 Nm).
While the smaller engine will come mated to either a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, the 1.5-litre motor can be teamed with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.
Ahead of its launch, the Taigun will be showcased in the following cities – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.
With the Volkswagen Taigun bookings commenced and details about its features known already, only the price of the vehicle is yet to be disclosed.
Since its twin, the Skoda Kushaq costs between Rs. 10.50 lakhs and Rs. 17.60 lakhs (ex-showroom), the Taigun is likely to cost in the same ballpark.
