The Jeep Commander will make its debut on 26th August

Jeep has revealed the Commander, a 3-row SUV to be sold in Latin America ahead of its official unveil which was scheduled for 26th August.

Revealed through a video, the new SUV’s exterior and interior have been revealed in full. Do note that this SUV was developed in Brazil and the 3-row Jeep Meridian, to be sold in India, could well look identical to it.

Externally, the Jeep Commander features the brand’s signature grille which is flanked by sleek new LED headlights. The bumper has a brushed metal element which connects the DRLs that sit above the fog lights.

It comes with the same interior as the Compass, but with an extra row of seating capacity

Below, there is an air dam which is split into 2 sections and a skid plate. Along the sides, there are new wheels, longer second row doors and a larger window area with chrome garnish.

In the rear, there is a large tail gate with a rather small windscreen, slim tail lights that seem odd given the size of the vehicle and a chunky bumper.

The video also showed an interior which looks the same as that of the 2021 Compass. However, the dashboard comes with contrast stitching, the seats are upholstered in leather and the front central armrest bears the ‘Jeep 1941’ inscription.

What’s more, the SUV will also be packed with features. It gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen, multifunctional steering wheel, push button start and a panoramic sunroof, among others.

To be manufactured at Jeep’s Pernambuco factory in Brazil, the Commander will be exported to all Latin American countries where it will come with 2 engine options – 1.3-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre turbo diesel.

The petrol engine will come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the diesel motor will be equipped with a 9-speed automatic transmission and it is the oil burner that will come with 4-wheel drive.

If this car is indeed the Meridian, then it should be revealed in India soon after it makes its debut in Latin America.
