By releasing the Seltos X-Line teaser, is Kia India responding to the Mahindra XUV700’s launch?
Kia India has released a teaser image and video of the Seltos X-Line which will be introduced soon to the market.
The South Korean firm had showcased the Seltos X-Line Concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and it had quite rugged styling, body cladding, blacked wheels and bronze highlights.
Painted in a shade of Matte Grey, the Kia Seltos X-Line also came with chunky tyres, raised suspension which increased the ground clearance of the crossover to 234 mm and electronic all-wheel-drive with a centre differential lock.
The production-spec Kia Seltos X-Line teased recently, is unlikely to come with a lift kit and all-wheel-drive. But, it should come with styling changes and should look aggressive thanks to the tweaked bumpers.
Expect the X-Line variant of the Seltos to be powered by the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, while the gearbox choices should be limited to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT.
The introduction of the new variant is likely Kia’s way of dealing with the new entrant to the segment, the Mahindra XUV700. It should also improve the crossover’s sales which dipped under 7000 units in July.
