The teaser image shows BMW will soon launch a true maxi-scooter in the form of the C 400 GT in India
BMW Motorrad has recently released a teaser image of the C 400 GT and through it conveyed that the maxi-scooter will be arriving soon on Indian shores.
Sharing the teaser image of the C 400 GT, BMW Motorrad wrote – “Are you ready to rise to the next level of urban riding? BMW Motorrad India’s first Maxi-scooter is debuting soon.”
There is no doubt that the maxi-scooter segment is gaining traction in India. The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and the Aprilia SXR range are there for buyers who want a bigger scooter for everyday use.
However, there is no proper performance maxi-scooter on sale in the market, which is something BMW Motorrad wants to address by launching the C 400 GT.
Powered by a 350cc, single cylinder, water-cooled, motor that is good for 34 HP at 7500 RPM and 35.35 Nm of maximum torque at 5750 RPM, the maxi-scooter features a CVT and can hit a top speed of 138 km/hr.
It is clear the scooter is no slouch and to look at, it clearly has proper presence, a trait many bikes do not possess these days.
Be it the LED headlamp, large windscreen, profound front structure, high-set handlebar, stepped seat or the stubby rear section, the C 400 GT looks unique.
Featuring ride-by-wire the maxi-scooter has a long 1565 mm wheelbase, which should make it a stable cruiser, while other features such as keyless ride, USB charging socket are on offer along with a TFT colour display with smartphone connectivity.
Sporting a 15-inch (120/70-section tyre) front rim and a 14-inch (150/70-section tyre) rear wheel, the 2-wheeler comes with 35 mm telescopic forks upfront with double spring struts (adjustable for preload) in the back.
Further, in order to bring the 214 kg scooter to a halt, BMW has equipped it with dual 264 mm discs with 4-piston calipers upfront and a 264 mm disc with 1 piston caliper at the back (with ABS assist).
In the USA, the scooter is priced at $8495 (Rs. 6.3 lakhs) and it is sure to come with a very premium price tag here.
