The Honda Prologue EV will be the first of a new series of pure-electric models from the carmaker
Honda will introduce its first new volume electric vehicle (EV), the Prologue, in North America by early 2024.
The launch of the EV will signal the beginning of a new electrified era for Honda, as the Japanese brand plans to achieve 100 percent zero emission vehicle sales in North America by 2040.
Earlier in April this year, Honda announced a vision to achieve carbon-neutrality for its products and corporate activities by 2050.
SUVs are all the craze at present and thus, the Honda Prologue EV will also be of that body style. The carmaker claims the SUV will be highly competitive, with the functionality and packaging expected from Honda.
The Honda Prologue EV will be based on the brand’s global EV platform and will draw power from Ultium batteries thanks to Honda’s partnership with General Motors.
Furthermore, the carmaker has announced that it will, in 2024, also introduce a pure-electric Acura SUV in North America.
In the second half of the decade, Honda plans to launch a series of EV models based on a new e:Architecture that is under development.
