Bookings of the new generation Maruti Celerio have begun as the car is set to be launched by September 2021
Maruti Suzuki’s dealers have begun accepting bookings for the 2021 Celerio which is expected to be launched come September.
This is unofficial of course and thus the booking amount varies between Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 11,000/- depending upon the dealership and city or town and yes, the amount is refundable.
Although the country’s top automaker had planned to launch the second-generation Celerio around July, COVID-19 had other ideas and thus, now Maruti aims to introduce the hatchback by September.
So far, through numerous spy shots and patent images the new Celerio’s exterior design has become well known. From the rear, it is set to look like a smaller version of the Maruti Baleno, while upfront, it resembles the Hyundai Verna of old.
Expect the hatchback to come with LED DRLs, LED tail lights, and alloy wheels. It will also be visually bigger than the current model, which should lead to increased interior space.
Spy pictures have also revealed that the new Celerio will come with a fresh dashboard layout, replete with a multifunctional steering wheel, latest gadgets like a touchscreen infotainment system, while smartphone connectivity, keyless entry, among other features should also be offered.
Passengers should have more interior room, while the boot space might also have increased by a bit, while in terms of safety, the new Celerio should be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, among others, while parking sensors should also be present.
Two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre (67 HP and 90 Nm) and a 1.2-litre (82 HP and 113 Nm) unit – will be on offer with the model along with 2 gearbox (5-speed manual and AMT) choices.
As revealed recently, Maruti plans to produce and sell about 2.5 lakh CNG cars this fiscal year and thus, the new Celerio should also get a CNG variant.
With the 2021 Maruti Celerio bookings having commenced unofficially, the carmaker is expected to make an official announcement regarding the same in the near future.
