The India-spec 2023 Maruti Swift’s development has started after the international model was conceived
Maruti Suzuki has commenced the development process of the next-generation, India-spec Swift which is set to be unveiled here by 2023.
The fourth-generation model, internally code-named YED, is set first make an appearance in Japan by the middle of 2022, if reports are to be believed.
While the carmaker continues to work on the international version of the hatchback, development of its Indian derivative has also begun recently and a request for quotation (RFQ) has been floated for the same by Maruti to potential suppliers.
The 2023 Maruti Swift will be underpinned by a revised version of the HEARTECT platform, which the current model uses, and it will also come with new styling which should make it more of an evolutionary upgrade.
On the inside, the hatchback is likely to come with a revised dashboard, new seats, larger touchscreen and plentiful new age features.
In another important development, 2023 Maruti Swift is expected to come with a mild hybrid petrol powertrain in addition to the ICE-only model. Both variants will make use of the current 1.2-litre petrol motor.
