Kia has officially released a few teaser images of the 2022 Sportage which is set to be unveiled in July in the carmaker’s home country.
The fifth-generation model of the crossover comes with Kia’s new design language which has been dubbed ‘Opposites United’ and first applied to the EV6 electric crossover.
Upfront the 2022 Sportage gets a black grille graphic spanning the width of the crossover’s “face”, while the signature DRL lends it unique styling.
The 2022 Kia Sportage teaser images show that the car has crisp character lines, seen on the bonnet, the ORVMs, and just ahead of the tail lamps.
Along the sides, it is clear that the EV6’s design cues have been applied to the new generation Sportage, for its roofline slopes to the back, while the waistline rises toward the rear, resulting in a fairly narrow window area.
While a complete view of the rear profile is not available, the shape and detailing of the tail lights, the light bar which connects them, the shapely boot lid and the car’s roof spoiler can be seen.
Included in the the 2022 Kia Sportage teaser images is a single picture of the crossover’s interior which reveals the wide and curved digital display, similar to the one present on the EV6.
The image also provides a clear idea of how the shape of the dashboard and the air vents will be and also reveals that there will be metallic trim in the car’s cabin for a premium feel.
Having not revealed any details about the powertrains that the crossover will come with, Kia has only stated that it will get “responsive yet highly efficient powertrains.”
