Hyundai Officially Unveils Alcazar 3-Row SUV
The SUV will be offered in both 6- and 7-seat variants and should be launched in May.
The official unveil of the Hyundai Alcazar has taken place and the carmaker has disclosed more details about the 3-row midsize SUV.
Although the Alcazar features a similar front profile to that of the Creta, it does have differences like the new front grille, bumper and revised fog lamps. Along the sides, the car has grown in length, it has an additional rear quarter glass and a new tail section.
According to the carmaker, over 3 lakh man-hours have been spent on developing the model which will be manufactured at the carmaker’s plant in Irungattukottai (Tamil Nadu).
The Alcazar’s structure features 75.6 percent Advanced and High-Strength Steel (AHSS & HSS) and Hyundai says it has increased rigidity due to the use of “ring structure” in the engine bay, B- and D-pillars.
Further, to offer a plush ride for all occupants, the Alcazar features a hydraulic rebound stopper in the front strut for better rebound control and the 3 drive modes – Eco, City and Sport – feature different mapping for the steering too.
At the Hyundai Alcazar unveil, the carmaker also revealed that the SUV will come with the first-in-segment second row console armrest, and claimed it will have best-in-segment wheelbase.
Powering the car will be a 2.0-litre petrol motor good for 159 PS and 191 Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The version fitted with the manual transmission does 0-100 km/hr in under 10 seconds claims Hyundai.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine making 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque will also be available with the SUV with the same gearbox choices as the petrol unit. The Korean brand says the diesel variant in both manual and automatic guises offers the best fuel efficiency in its segment.
The car maker had only recently concluded the durability tests for the SUV which is expected to be launched in May.
