Not only is Dacia testing the Duster facelift, it has also been spotted running 7-seater development mules of the SUV in Romania.
Expected to be called the Grand Duster, the new variant of the popular car is being readied to help expand the Duster brand and also fill the void left by the Lodgy MPV.
The project has been around since 2017, and since buyers the world over are going gaga for SUVs, the Romanian carmaker has decided it best to introduce a variant of the Duster with more seats than stick with MPVs that are not doing well.
The 7-seater Dacia Duster spotted on test was covered in camouflage, and, obviously, it is longer than the 5-seater model.
This new model could measure close to 4500 mm, considering the current-generation Duster is 4341 mm long, which should give enough space for third row occupants to travel in reasonable comfort.
It also uses longer tail lamps that are placed vertically, while the tail section has undergone a lot of changes. Some might say it looks like a jacked up estate car.
Likely to be unveiled later this year and launched early next year overseas, the Dacia Grand Duster will borrow engines from the regular Duster which include 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre petrol engines and a 1.5-litre diesel unit.
On the other hand, the 2021 Dacia Duster facelift looks set to get revisions to its lighting units and possible sheet metal changes at the rear. It should be introduced this year and continue with its current engine line-up.
