Volkswagen Passenger Cars India have revealed the 2021 Tiguan facelift today, as part of the brand’s SUVW strategy under India 2.0 project.
Based on the MQB platform, the SUV now features a new radiator grille, LED headlights and DRLs, redesigned bumpers, “Dark Red” LED tail lamps with new light signatures and 18-inch Frankfurt alloys.
Inside, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift comes with premium Vienna leather seats, digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, illuminated scuff plates and paddle shifters for the driver to take control of the gear changes.
The refreshed Tiguan will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine delivering a peak power of 190 PS and 320 Nm of maximum torque. The motor is paired to a 7-speed DSG which sends the engine’s power to all 4 wheels.
Brought in as a CKD model, the SUV will also feature safety tech such as 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, ASR, EDL, auto-hold, hill start assist, hill descent control, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts and Driver Alert System. It will go on sale soon.
In addition to revealing the Tiguan facelift, Volkswagen also stated that the second batch of the Tiguan Allspace will arrive soon to India.
The 7-seat SUV will come equipped with a 2.0-litre TSI engine paired to a 7-speed DSG transmission with paddle shifts and will have the 4Motion system. Safety-wise, the Tiguan Allspace will offer 8-airbags, ABS, ESP, amongst others, to buyers.
Lastly, the German carmaker announced the introduction of the second batch of the popular T-Roc. Now, the SUV costs Rs. 21.35 lakhs (ex-showroom) which is Rs. 1.36 lakhs more than the 2020 model.
Powered by a 1.5-litre EVO TSI engine which comes mated to a 7-speed DSG, the car will come equipped with 6 airbags, ABS, ESC, TPMS and reverse camera.
Volkswagen has announced that the car can either be booked online or at authorised dealerships and customer deliveries of the 2021 Volkswagen T-Roc will start from May onwards.
