BMW Motorrad India has introduced the all-new M 1000 RR with a price tag of Rs. 42 lakhs (ex-showroom), today.
The BMW M 1000 RR Competition, on the other hand, costs Rs. 45,00,000/- (ex-showroom). These are the first M models from BMW Motorrad and are brought in as completely built-up units (CBU).
Based on the current-generation S 1000 RR superbike, the track-oriented M 1000 RR sports styling tweaks and componentry to suit its purpose.
It is a rather slim bike with a compact face that has LED headlights that flank the T-shaped air flap. The fairing has gotten winglets now and is optimised for air flow, while the windscreen is larger and the bike even has carbon wheels.
Available in Light White, Racing Blue Metallic and Racing Red colourways, the M 1000 RR’s engine cover is painted in granite grey, the fuel filler cap in black, spring strut in blue, while the brake callipers come in blue anodised coating. It also has a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity.
Built on a “Flex Frame”, the bike also comes with an M Competition Package for an additional cost (Rs. 3 lakhs to be precise) which effectively makes it a track machine.
The BMW M 1000 RR Competition price includes a GPS-lap trigger, passenger kit, pillion seat cover, a Carbon Pack and an M Billet Pack.
An uprated water/oil-cooled 4-cylinder 999cc engine capable of making a peak output of 212 HP at 14,500 RPM and a maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 RPM, powers the motorcycle. The bike can sprint from 0-100 km/hr in 3.1 seconds and hit a top speed of 306 km/hr.
There are 4 driving modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race) offered as standard with the bike, while customers can choose an optional Riding Modes Pro system which brings in 3 more modes called “Race Pro 1-3” (along with launch control and pit-lane limiter) that are freely programmable, meaning throttle, engine brake, TC, wheelie-control, ABS and ABS Pro can be tailored to suit the rider’s liking.
Moreover, BMW Motorrad claims to have newly developed the suspension unit for the M 1000 RR, while the brakes are BMW’s own units, not ones from Brembo.
In all, the M 1000 RR only weighs 192 kg (Competition variant weighs 200 g less), and has a 16.5-litre usable fuel tank volume. The bike rides on 120-section front and 200-section rear rubber.
Furthermore, customers can also purchase an array of optional equipment and accessories available for the M 1000 RR.
