Kia EV6 Design Revealed In Official Images

Kia has revealed its new design philosophy with the official release of EV6 crossover’s images, today.

Termed “Opposites United”, the carmaker’s latest styling trend is based on 5 design pillars, namely – ‘Bold for Nature’, ‘Joy for Reason’, ‘Power to Progress’, ‘Technology for Life’, and ‘Tension for Serenity’.

The brand’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) is based on the Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and has been designed by all 3 of Kia’s global design studios in Frankfurt (Germany), Irvine (USA) and Namyang (Korea).

At the center of the design philosophy, says Kia, is a new visual identity, with the exterior design characterised by clear and simple lines. According to the carmaker, this is a representation of the ‘Power to Progress’ design pillar.

At the front, the Kia EV6 design embodies the new “Digital Tiger Face”, a modification of the brand’s “Tiger Nose Grille” for EVs. There are sleek headlights that have sequential dynamic light pattern and characteristic DRLs.

An air intake that channels air through and under the car for optimum aerodynamics sits below, while the bonnet, or should we say the front boot lid, is long and curvy and also features 2 prominent creases.

Along the sides, the car’s crossover-inspired silhouette is displayed well. While the glasshouse is decent enough, it looks smaller due to the blacked out pillars, a rising beltline and the chunky C-pillar that rises to meet the ever so slightly sloping roofline.

It is a very sleek car with no prominent lines along the sides, while there are flush-fitting door handles, styish alloy wheels and 2 painted creases that rise to seemingly meet with the rear lighting unit.

At the rear, the Kia EV6 design is sharp what with the rear windscreen being small and raked, the lighting unit running the full width of the car and the boot lid that sits well into the bumper, not to miss the roof spoiler and a clean lower section.

Inside, the Kia EV6 has digital screens that dominate the 2-tone dashboard, a multifunction 2-spoke steering wheel, very few physical buttons and a prominent centre console.

Evoking a sense of spaciousness, the seats are slim (and claimed to be lightweight) and they will be clad in fabrics created using recycled plastics. Also, Kia says the EV6 will feature its next-generation in-car user experience (UX) and connectivity systems.

With the Kia EV6 design officially revealed, the car will make its world premiere this month by way of an online event.
