The upcoming Volkswagen Taigun has been spotted on test in Pune as the carmaker is getting ready to launch the compact SUV in the market.
Revealed this time last year (read article here), the car was spied while on test runs by MotorBeamer Siddhant Gadhai.
While Skoda’s Kushaq, effectively the Taigun’s twin which just looks a bit different, has been stealing the limelight of late, the Taigun’s development has been ongoing without much fuss.
Built on the MQB A0 IN platform, the Hyundai Creta rival will come with typical Volkswagen styling (there are lots of creases) that would allow it to age well.
While the Volkswagen Taigun spotted on test looks identical to the one unveiled last year, the front bumper now features an additional horizontal slat just above the splitter.
Also, the full-width rear lighting unit is not seen on the test car, which means the carmaker is saving it for when the model gets launched or has dropped the feature altogether.
Inside, the Taigun will come with all the latest kit like a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen with connectivity features, among others. Fit and finish will also be good, for it is a Volkswagen.
Powering the car would be a 1.0-litre TSI motor, while a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine will also be available. Gearbox options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed auto and 7-speed DSG.
