The Maruti Eeco is the stripped-down version of the Maruti Versa, which was launched back in the year 2001. Because of below average response, the Versa was later discontinued. Later, Maruti introduced the Eeco as a minivan in the year 2010. The Eeco is widely used in many applications for private and commercial purposes. Maruti Eeco Exteriors
The Maruti Eeco looks simple in every way. Upfront, it gets a sloping bonnet that can be opened to fill the necessary fluids in the car, like the Omni the engine has been placed below the front driver’s seat. From the side, it has a boxy design with the rear doors sliding backwards for easy access. The 13-inch wheels look small on a car of this size. However, cost also plays an important part in that. The rear is plain, and the boot opens completely for loading of the luggage.

The interiors look plain and basic, with minimal features. The cabin gets dual-tone treatment with a black-beige dashboard. The instrument cluster gets an illuminated speedometer with a multi-tripmeter. However, the instrument cluster misses out on the tachometer. The air-con controls are positioned in the centre panel. The Eeco doesn’t come equipped with a factory-fitted audio system. However, one can install an aftermarket system in it.

In the 5-seater version of the Eeco, you get a bench seat which can accommodate 3 people in the middle row. While in the 7-seater version, the second row gets a bench seat that can accommodate 2 people. There is enough space to get into the third row, which can accommodate 3 people. Boot space is limited in the 7-seater version. You can have an ample amount of luggage space in the 5-seater version.

The Maruti Eeco comes with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, G12B petrol engine. The engine produces a power output of 73 HP @ 6000 RPM and torque output of 98 Nm @ 3000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, which channels the power to the rear wheels. You don’t get an option of an automatic transmission on the Eeco. The engine feels a bit unresponsive when starting from idle. The engine performs well in the mid-range. The gearbox is slick-shifting and easy to use.
You also get an option of CNG with the petrol engine. The engine produces a power output of 62 HP @ 6000 RPM and torque output of 85 Nm @ 3000 RPM in CNG mode. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

The BS6 Maruti Eeco with a petrol engine has an ARAI fuel efficiency of 16.11 km/l for manual transmission. In real-world conditions, it will return around 10-13 km/l in city traffic conditions and 13-15 km/l out on the highways. However, fuel efficiency also depends upon the style of driving and traffic conditions.
The BS6 Maruti Eeco with CNG + petrol engine has an ARAI fuel efficiency of 20.88 km/kg (CNG Mode) for the manual transmission.

The Datsun GO+ looks more like an MPV, while the Eeco looks like a van type. The Datsun GO+ gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol unit. The engine comes with an option of either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. In terms of power output figures, the GO+ has a slightly lower figure than that of the Eeco.
