Development of the Hyundai Alcazar is gaining pace and a mule has been spied for the first time on Indian roads.
Hyundai has been testing the car in its homeland for months and through the spy pictures, some of the details, like the increase in the body length and a different rear profile (in comparison with the Creta) could be seen.
Recent spy shots taken in India confirm these details and provide us with some more like the new design for the radiator grille that has silver-finish studs instead of chrome slats.
As mentioned before, the Hyundai Alcazar spied car confirms that the 7-seater will be longer than the 5-seater it is based on. The additional length has been added behind the rear wheel. Thus, the third row should offer decent space for small adults to say the least.
Furthermore, the rear profile of the SUV looks to have been tweaked as there are different tail lights and the bumper is revised too. Other things such as the roof rails, the wheels and the exhaust tips are the same as on the Creta.
Inside, we can expect the same feature-rich cabin with a digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, connectivity tech, panoramic sunroof, among several other kit.
Apart from the additional row of seats, the car might possibly be equipped with more features, for it will cost a bit more than the Creta.
Engine options for the Hyundai Alcazar will be a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel unit already doing duty on the Creta. It is not known if the 1.5-litre petrol unit option will be offered with the car, but transmission options will stay as is.
Set to get launched by the second quarter next year, the Alcazar will rival the MG Hector Plus and upcoming models like the Tata Gravitas and Mahindra XUV500.
