Jeep has revealed the Wrangler Rubicon 392, the production version of the concept with the same name shown earlier this year, and to put it simply, the manufacturer has gone to town with the model.
This car is all about the upgrades and where better to start other than under the bonnet? Wedged inside is a 6.4-litre NA Hemi V8 good for 470 HP and 637 Nm that is mated to an 8-speed auto.
Such power and torque rating enables the off-road SUV to do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 4.5 seconds (there is a launch control of sorts for it) and the quarter-mile in 13 seconds flat.
The SUV’s ride height has been increased by 51 mm, its frame rails and suspension upgraded, and of course, with big power comes big responsibility, which is why Jeep has installed heavy-duty brakes too.
Also, the Rubicon 392 gets a full-time Select-Track 4WD system with a 2.72 low-range gear ratio, four selectable modes (4WD Auto, 4WD High, Neutral, and 4WD Low), thicker axle tubes front and rear, electronic locking differentials and an electronic disconnect for the front sway bar.
As standard, it comes with 33-inch tyres on Beadlock-capable 17-inch rims and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 can wade through 825.5 mm of water. To ensure the engine always breathes, Jeep has fitted it with a Hydro-Guide air intake system with tri-level ducting that directs water away from the mill.
Looks-wise, the SUV gets special 392 badges outside, different wheels, and of course, there is the big bonnet scoop to tell people that something special resides underneath it and Jeep says the grille is optimised to better cool the engine.
Inside, there is a new instrument cluster, Rubicon 392 branding on the seats, and as standard it comes with several features along with kit normally offered as optional extras.
Nope, the retail price of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 has not been mentioned yet. But, it is expected to become the most expensive Wrangler and will cost somewhere around $60,000 (Rs. 44.68 lakhs) in the USA when it gets launched there next year.
