Nissan has officially revealed the specs of its upcoming compact SUV, the Magnite. The car comes with two engines and gearbox options.
Before we look at the powertrains offered, let us take a brief look at the dimensions of the car.
It is 3994 mm long, 1758 mm wide, 1572 mm tall, has a 2500 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 205 mm. The boot space of the car is 336 litres, while it has a 40-litre fuel tank.
Engine options offered on the Magnite are two – a HRA0 turbo petrol motor and a B4D naturally aspirated (NA) unit. The turbo motor is the more powerful of the two and belts out 100 PS at 5000 RPM and up to 160 Nm at 2800-3600 RPM.
This engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or an X-Tronic CVT. Nissan Magnite specs reveal that people who pick the latter for convenience would have to be content with 152 Nm which is delivered at 2200-4400 RPM.
When it comes to fuel economy, the turbo petrol with the 5-speed MT offers a claimed 20 km/l. Cars with the CVT will return 17.7 km/l.
With a maximum power of 72 PS at 6250 and peak torque figure of 96 Nm at 3500, the B4D NA 1.0-litre petrol engine seems like it is set to play second fiddle to the turbo motor. But, it does return a respectable fuel economy figure of 18.75 km/l.
Among other things, the Nissan Magnite specs reveal that the compact SUV has a front disc and rear drum brake setup, and that it has MacPherson strut with lower transverse link suspension upfront and twin tube telescopic shock absorbers at the back.
Expect the car to get launched very soon and be priced aggressively in order to take on its well established competition.
